ASL evaluated the suitability of the ex-situ temperature sensors for use as potential temperature indicators in cases of fire and arson investigations. The sensors, in the shape of small pressed pellets, were placed inside test structures that were subsequently set on fire. The results indicate good agreement between the optical sensor readings and traditional thermocouple-based reference measurements.
