In many cases, on-line (real-time) temperature sensing is required in extreme and challenging situations. Examples include temperature of exhaust from traditional combustion and hypersonic engines, post-detonation environments, etc.
Providing Real-time temperature sensing in the most challenging situations.
Our two-color temperature sensors can be used in various configurations and in places and environments where other sensors fail. Our on-line thermal sensors are ideal in two configurations:
- Optical thermocouples
- Imaging particles
Sensor Technology
Our optical thermocouples contain a sensor coating at the tip of an optical sapphire fiber which is connected to a regular glass fiber. The sapphire fiber with the sensor coating is rugged enough to withstand extreme environments. The optical design combines this ruggedness with a fast response time for dynamic characterizations.
Laser-Induced Flourescence
The sensor particles can also be embedded into composites that are subject to high rapidly changing high temperatures (e.g., the leading edges of fast-moving objects) to monitor their temperatures. Alternatively, the sensor particles can be dispersed into the environment of interest and their temperature can be monitored in real time using laser-induced fluorescence.
